I come from a mother who is a crafter and seamstress. I was also lucky enough to get a  mother in law who is also an artist and creator. They both have taught me to take what you have and create what you want, to the best of your ability. I have learned a lot from both of them. Some time ago, I went garage sailing in my neighborhood. I have looked for wicker furniture before, but it wasn't in the greatest condition and/or close to new price. I will walk away from buying something, even if I am crazy about it, if the price just isn't right. So, to my amazement I found a nice super cheep wicker furniture set.(2 chairs and a table) They needed a new coat of paint and had no cushions. I re-did one and here it is...

This is an amazing story about just that.  We are reading  Story of the world Vol. 1 Chapter 1 this week, which conveniently fits with out Art history. We also read Cave paintings to Picasso,  and The Annotated Mona Lisa (older children).(Among others)

Van Gogh Art

We read Getting to know World's Greatest Artists: Van Gogh- Mike Venezia  and    The Starry Night-Neil Waldman. Painted on watercolor paper with watercolors, glued construction paper moons, and added star stickers.

June 15-19, June 22-26 and/or June 29-July 3 9am-5pm $200.00/week* Students are required to bring a brown bag lunch, towel, swim suit and sun screen. (*registration fee and supply fee not included) Drop Off: 9–9:30 a.m. Lunch/swim: 12:30–1:30 p.m. Pick Up: 4:30–5:00 p.m. Every drawing starts with a mark then a line. Every journey starts with a step. Start your artistic journey... June 15-19: Delve into the principles drawing using pencil, charcoal, chalk and markers. We will explore how artists have used line. Make original works of your own or copy a museum piece. June22-26: Mandalas! Relax and unwind and come explore the world of mandalas. Drawing mandalas can be very relaxing, and therapeutic. It’s all done with circles, symbols and shapes-Good for team building and stimulating right-brain thinking. June 29- July 3: Colored pencils are a wonderful way of drawing! Colored Pencils give you drawing and the world of color at the same time. Come learn a variety of techniques using colored pencils.
